Black Adam is one of the final new film releases for Warner Bros. Discovery to close out the year, and it will look to showcase dominance at the box office once it arrives. Johnson has not been shy about expressing his excitement for the film, while equally teasing fans with hints that Henry Cavill’s Superman will make an appearance. As the release approaches, Johnson will lay more breadcrumbs to fill theaters, which he provides by showcasing Black Adam’s first moments in the present day.

Johnson posted the brand-new Black Adam clip to give audiences a subtle taste of the main course that has yet to surface. The chaotic footage erupts with the emergence of the titular character, who instantly showcases why he is the most powerful force on the planet. “Your magic is weak,” utters Black Adam in response to the barrage of bullets bouncing off his god-like figure as he violently disposes of his attackers before escaping his prison and entering the present-day world.
Black Adam will look to generate significant revenue for Warner Bros. Discovery, whose morbid financial situation has been the topic of conversation throughout the past few months. The cancelation of Batgirl ignited the spark, which further spread when it surfaced that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods would fail to see a theatrical release this year. Essentially, the studio could not afford to release the projects, having only the financial capability to release three films to end the year, which includes Don’t Worry Darling and Black Adam. Despite heinous reviews, Don’t Worry Darling cleaned up nicely at the box office, but Black Adam will undoubtedly look to make an even bigger impact worldwide.
Alongside Johnson, the upcoming Warner Bros. film will star Pierce Brosnan, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Noah Centineo, and Viola Davis. The film will center around the titular anti-hero and the unique form of justice he fully unleashes in the present day after 5,000 years of imprisonment. The Justice Society of America challenges the emblematic character’s unmatched god-like power, which includes Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher. Black Adam looks to release weeks ahead of Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and it will be interesting to see how the two projects stack up against one another in a race to dethrone Top Gun: Maverick as the year’s highest-grossing film.
Black Adam will hit theaters on October 21, 2022.
