It has been a long wait for Johnson to step into Black Adam’s shoes, and it seems like it is all finally coming together. Despite the several delays that the project had to face, it is scheduled to premiere later this year, with the official Black Adam trailer releasing on June 8. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, with the Funko Pops being revealed just prior to the trailer launch. Fans get to see the latest characters to join the DC Universe and theorize over their involvement in the upcoming film.

The Black Adam Funko Pop! collection includes a floating version of Johnson’s titular character, with its superhero costume on full display, and another one of him sitting on a throne. The third vinyl figure is a “Limited Edition” one of Black Adam seemingly shooting electricity from his hands. The Justice Society of America members who have been granted their own vinyl figures include Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone and the villain Sabbac, who is potentially being played by Marwan Kenzari.
The entire Black Adam collection is available to pre-order, with deliveries going out in July. Conversations of a Black Adam project began back in 2007, and Johnson was originally cast as the anti-hero in 2014. He was meant to play the main villain in 2019’s Shazam!, but changes to the plot were made at the last minute and Johnson’s anti-hero was promised a standalone film instead. Fans have been waiting for the film for many years, and it’s not surprising that the excitement is now increasing as the release date approaches.
Black Adam will follow the backstory of Johnson’s titular character, working as an origin project for the anti-hero. The plot will see him being freed from a tomb, thousands of years after obtaining special powers, and “ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.” Plot details are being kept a secret so far, and perhaps the trailer will reveal more.
Black Adam is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 21, 2022.
