Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness is transparently inspired by BioWare’s classic Dungeons & Dragons cRPGs and proud to say so. Core features include real-time tactical combat (with pause) with a high level of difficulty, rich lore filled with unique NPCs and memorable companions, and a fantasy world in which players will be able to explore thoroughly. Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness is available to pick up and play starting now on PC via Steam and GOG.

Of course, Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness is not an official Dungeons & Dragons cRPG. It’s only inspired by the games. That means that its setting is original. It also means that Black Geyser was able to get a bit creative in some areas, like classes. Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness features 13 different classes for players to choose from, including traditional fantasy roles like Fighter, Ranger, Cleric, and Druid. It also has some fun options, like Highlander, Swindler, Wintermage, and Shaman.
Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness experiments with some unique features, too. For example, there’s a Greed mechanic where players acting greedy with regard to rewards and looting will empower the god of greed Zornilsa, which in turn makes the game’s world more chaotic. There’s also a Drying system, allowing players to make powders to influence gameplay, a counterpart to potion-making. Also fun, instead of pickpocketing enemies, the player can plant items in their pockets to influence them in interesting ways.
While Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness may be officially launched, it’s been available for some time now. Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness arrived around six months ago via Early Access on Steam. The 1.0 launch of Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness does polish the game, improving performance, gameplay balance, and expanding the experience with new quests, locations, and boss mechanics. Even those who have played Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness pre-launch will find plenty new in-game.
Chalk up another success for Kickstarter. Developer GrapeOcean Technologies raised over €100,000 to get its project off the ground in 2018. Now a complete game, Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness has delivered on its initial promises and then some. For cRPG fans, it’s a promising effort by a team with a lot of potential.
