The digital toolbox for 5e Dungeons and Dragons offers players an online spot to manage their character sheets, encounters, and read up on all the source material (assuming they are willing to purchase it digitally or have a dungeon master with content sharing enabled). Although some players will always prefer to physically roll dice for their attacks, saves, checks, and damage; DnD Beyond recently released a new feature that allows any roll to happen with the simple click of a button on the character sheet. Obviously, this means there’s a whole new world of dice skin purchases that players can make to customize the effect that comes along with their rolls.

The tool offers a free set of basic dice, so purchasing the different styles and skins is definitely optional and solely an aesthetic change (don’t expect more critical hits on purchased dice or anything like that). The first wave of offerings included a colorful pigment pack and some very stylized Magic: The Gathering Theros-themed dice. The next set is now available and it is going to be very tempting for players who like a nice weighty die roll…
The Blacksmith’s Set of dice offers eight variations in color and each one can be purchased individually or players can pick up the whole set for just under $8. They are a bit basic compared to the highly-designed Theros dice, but it’s a nice change of pace and seems like the perfect pick for anyone who is playing a character that might be a blacksmith or some other kind of crafter.
In the coming months, it will be interesting to see what other dice sets DnD Beyond releases (in addition to the recent Icewind Dale set). The developers are still taking requests and gathering feedback on the forums, so it seems like there will be plenty of other options as this corner of the store continues to expand.
There are going to be a lot of other details about Icewind Dale and other upcoming D&D products dropping throughout the rest of the summer and early fall, so be sure to stay tuned and check back for additional news. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Dungeons and Dragons news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, roll well, adventurers!
